Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position

The Board of the National Transport Authority is recruiting for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The Board of the National Transport Authority is seeking to identify and appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the transformation of Ireland’s public transport network to a world-class standard. Leading an organisation of just under 400, the CEO will work closely with the Board of the NTA, the Minister and the Department of Transport to deliver a wide range of transport strategies and plans across Ireland.

  • Substantial experience in interacting with government and public sector
    stakeholders
  • An exemplary track record in leading large, complex organisations,
    ideally in public services, transport or a regulated industry
  • Strategic thinking, strong collaboration and influencing skills, a high degree
    of energy, enthusiasm, drive, self-awareness, personal effectiveness,
    empathy, resilience and flexibility.

The remit of the NTA

The National Transport Authority (NTA) is a statutory non-commercial body which operates under the aegis of the Irish Government’s Department of Transport. The remit of the NTA is primarily concerned with the planning, development, funding and promotion of sustainable transport modes on a national basis. The authority has responsibility for securing the provision of public passenger land transport services, including subsidised bus, rail and light rail services.

The NTA’s remit also extends to the regulation of commercial public bus services, as well as the small public service vehicle sector and vehicle clamping.
Within the Greater Dublin Area the authority carries additional responsibilities, including strategic planning of transport, development of an integrated, accessible public transport network, promotion of active travel, and effective management of traffic and transport demand.
