NTA opens public consultation on Bye-Laws

The consultation will run until 12pm on Wednesday, 8th January 2024

27 November 2024

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today opened a public consultation on amendments to the Public Passenger Transport Services Bye-Laws (2019).

The amendments proposed aim to remove any inconsistency between the 2019 Bye-Laws and the Road Traffic Act 1961.

The proposed amendments

Under the proposals, the NTA plans to clarify:

  • The rules for boarding and alighting from a bus while it is travelling along a route where there are stands/stopping places.
  • The rules for signaling a bus driver to stop so that a passenger can board or alight from the bus where there are stands or stopping places along the route.

Have your say

The NTA is encouraging members of the public to review the proposed amendments and share their feedback.

The consultation will run until 12pm on Wednesday, 8th January 2024.
