The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today opened a public consultation on proposed bus service improvements for the Nenagh – Clonmel bus corridor. This consultation is open to the public until Friday, 15th November 2024 and seeks feedback on service enhancements aimed at improving rural connectivity.
Service Enhancements for Nenagh – Clonmel
The NTA is proposing to enhance bus services along the Nenagh – Clonmel corridor by increasing the frequency and reliability of services, thereby improving access to public transport in rural communities.
The proposed enhancement includes a seven-day week service between Nenagh and Clonmel, serving Borrisoleigh, Templemore, Thurles, Holycross, Boherlahan, Cashel and Ballyclerahan. The service will run every 2 hours, providing eight services a day between Nenagh and Clonmel.
The proposed service will offer improved connection to other services including Routes 394, 395 and 855.
Integrated Ticketing and Accessibility
The new services will be fully integrated with the TFI Go app for convenient journey planning. To facilitate cashless payments, the Leap Card fare system and Free Travel Passes will also be valid on applicable services on the corridor.
Additionally, the NTA plans to introduce modern, accessible buses, while working with local authorities to upgrade bus stop infrastructure for greater passenger comfort and inclusion.
Have Your Say
The NTA is encouraging members of the public to participate in the consultation by sharing their views and feedback.
Anne Graham, CEO of the NTA, said: “We are committed to delivering better public transport services in rural areas, and this consultation is a valuable opportunity for the community to shape these improvements. We look forward to hearing your input.”

Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan
These proposed enhancements are part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, a national initiative aimed at strengthening rural public transport as part of the Transport for Ireland Network (TFI). The plan, which is developed and funded by the National Transport Authority, is aligned with the goals of Project Ireland 2040 and the Climate Action Plan.
The NTA aims to begin implementing the proposed service enhancements by the end of 2025, subject to securing the necessary funding and resources.
