Pursuant to section 24 of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013, the National Transport Authority proposes to make a new maximum fares order, to replace the current maximum fares order, detailing the maximum fare that may be charged by a driver of a taxi. A review of national taxi fares has been undertaken to date on a two year cycle, with the last review carried out in 2012.
Maximum taxi fares have remained unchanged since 2008 – the 2010 and 2012 reviews concluded without any fare changes.
In addition, views are being sought on proposed changes to the taxi regulations.
The Authority has launched a consultation on new Proposed Maximum Taxi Fares, and proposed new regulations, and is inviting members of the public and interested bodies, to give their views before the closing date of 5:00pm on Tuesday December 9 2014.
Written submissions may be made in one of the three following ways:
- Online
- By email to MaxFares@nationaltransport.ie or SPSVRegs@nationaltransport.ie
- By post to Maximum Fares Order 2014, or SPSV Regulations National Transport Authority, Dún Scéine, Harcourt Lane, Dublin 2, D02 WT20.
