The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today opened a public consultation on formalising current vehicle clamping appeals procedures under the Vehicle Clamping Act 2015, where the appeal directly to the clamping operator (required) has been unsuccessful.
Vehicle Clamping Act 2015
The regulation of parking controllers and clamping operators is carried out under the Vehicle Clamping Act 2015 and the Vehicle Clamping and Signage Regulations 2017.
The proposed amendments will formally support the escalation of an appeal rejected by the clamping operator to an independent Clamping Appeals Officer for hearing.
It is also proposed to amend sections 14(b) and 14(c) of the Vehicle Clamping and Signage Regulations 2017 to include the option of a facility to accept electronic funds transfers as a method of payment to release a clamp.
NTA is the prescribed regulator in the Vehicle Clamping Act 2015.
The public consultation will run for three weeks and closes at 5pm on Friday 19th of July 2024. You can have your say by clicking here.
