Light Up Your Bike
Our annual Light Up Your Bike promotion takes place every October. Partners of the Smarter Travel Programme are invited to register for bike lights and an allocation is delivered prior to the October Bank Holiday when the clocks go back.
Social media posts on Instagram and X take place in the week up to the clocks going back.
Posters and social media graphics were issued to partners who registered for use in their own in-house promotions.
Overall 68 partners registered and a total of 25,000 lights were issued in our 2024 campaign.
Please note: Bike lights are suitable for use as back up and should not be a cyclist’s primary bike light.
The programme has been featured in the following articles:
Lucy Hayes, Dublin City Council Walking & Cycling Officer said, ‘’Dublin City Council is keen to support cycling as a year round fun and safe active travel option. It’s essential that along with the improved infrastructure and greenways for safer and more accessible cycling, cyclists must make sure they light up their bikes, both for each other and for other road users, as the darker evenings and mornings close in’’.
