Increased Purchase Grants for Electric SPSVs in 2020

There has never been at better time to make the switch to an electric vehicle and support the transition towards greening the national SPSV fleet.

A new grant scheme to support vehicle licence holders who wish to operate an electric SPSV opens on January 1 2020. Application forms for the 2020 scheme will be available on the NTA website from that date.

The levels of grant payable by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport in the 2020 scheme are outlined below.  Please note that grants will not be available for vehicles older than 4 years – in order to maximise the efficiencies within the fleet.

 

Battery Electric vehicles:

  • New Battery Electric Vehicle (<3,000kms and <3 months old) : €10,000
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than one year of age: €9,000
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than two years of age: €8,000
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than three years of age: €7,000
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than four years of age: €6,000

 

Plug in Hybrid electric vehicles:

  • New Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (<3,000kms and <3 months old): €5,000
  • Battery Plug in Hybrid Vehicle less than one year of age: €4,000
  • Battery Plug in Hybrid Vehicle less than two years of age: €3,000
  • Battery Plug in Hybrid Vehicle less than three years of age: €2,000
  • Battery Plug in Hybrid Vehicle less than four years of age: €1,000

 

Wheelchair Accessible battery electric vehicles:

 

  • New Battery Electric Vehicle (<3,000kms and <3 months old): €12,500
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than one year of age: €11,500
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than two years of age: €10,500
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than three years of age: €9,500
  • Battery Electric Vehicle less than four years of age: €8,500
