The Report of the Taxi Regulation Review Group was published in 2012 on foot a wide ranging Government review of the small public service vehicle (SPSV – taxi, hackney, limousine) industry. The aim of the Review, chaired by Minister Alan Kelly, was to allow consumers to have confidence in the SPSV industry, while also ensuring that legitimate and competent operators and drivers could be rewarded fairly by operating under a regulatory framework that is adequately enforced. The Report contained 46 actions and these consultations are published in furtherance of two of those actions.
Therefore, the National Transport Authority now invites all interested parties to give their views in two public consultations related to taxis, hackneys and limousines before the closing date of 5:00pm, Friday 25 September:
- Mandatory SPSV Driver Safety Equipment – a consultation on introducing a requirement for the mandatory provision of certain driver safety equipment in recognition of driver safety issues an
- Taxi Roof Signs – a consultation on the design of a new taxi roof sign that is more compact, is subject to restricted availability from authorised suppliers, and can display a greater level of information for consumer and compliance improvements.
