On 9 June last the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, announced a number of additional supports to assist the SPSV industry as it recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These supports include an allocation of €2 million to facilitate a 12-month scheme whereby motor tax paid in respect of licensed SPSVs on or after the scheme commencement date, would be refunded to the licence holder. Applications must be received within 30 days of issue date of Motor Tax as evidenced by the motor tax certificate.
NTA has been tasked with implementing this support measure and work is ongoing to ensure that the extensive processes necessary to give effect to these refunds, are in place. It is hoped that the SPSV Motor Tax Refund Scheme will commence on 1 September 2021 with full information being made available in advance of that date.
