TFI Local Link Cavan Monaghan is enhancing bus services from Cavan to Monaghan from Friday the 6th of October.
Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan
This enhancement is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network
Route 176 will now operate six daily return services Monday to Saturday and four daily return services on Sunday and Bank Holidays. The service will also now operate two additional return evening services on Friday and Saturday. The route will continue to connect villages and areas such as Threemilehouse, Newbliss, Clones and Scotshouse.
Improved connectivity to Cavan General Hospital, the Monaghan Institute, and regional bus services
The enhanced route will continue to offer peak-time and evening services for commuters and will also provide improved connectivity to Cavan General Hospital, the Monaghan Institute and regional bus services.
Speaking ahead of the launch TFI Local Link Cavan Monaghan, Manager Padraic Smyth said:
“Route 176 has been one of the most successful routes in this region and continues to go from strength to strength. The additional evening services will provide the communities along the route further extended access to employment, retail and social opportunities. Developing these services fits with our sustainable mobility goals by giving the people in the area viable public transport alternatives”.
