NTA is pleased to announce that we will be running the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Grant Scheme again this year to support the wider availability of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) in Ireland’s small public service vehicle fleet.
The WAV21 – Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Grant Scheme offers financial aid of up to €7,500 nationwide for the purchase or conversion of a new WAV – and a sliding scale, with lesser monies being available for older cars. Cars older than 6 years will not qualify for this Scheme. The Grant Scheme also offers training assistance to all successful applicants.
Whilst only existing SPSV Driver Licence Holders or existing SPSV Licence Holders may currently avail of the scheme to purchase or convert an ‘internal combustible engine’ (ICE) WAV, the Grant Scheme is available to anyone who wishes to purchase or convert an electric WAV (eWAV). This criteria will be subject to review at regular intervals throughout the duration of the Grant Scheme.
Further information about the WAV 21 Grant Scheme which launches today 1 March 2021, including information on how to apply, can be found here.
