The Service Planning team at the Authority is responsible for identifying and quantifying the need for public transport across all markets for travel within the State. It is also responsible for specifying new and enhanced services to meet those needs, and programmes to implement those revisions subject to the availability of funding. The team works with our Transport Planning and Investment directorate colleagues within the Authority and with Local Authorities during selection of route alignments and stops for enhanced services, and bus priority measures to improve the operating environment to benefit existing services in towns and cities. We also work closely with our colleagues in Transport Co-ordination Units and with Bus Éireann and Iarnród Éireann across the country to develop timetables of bus service to meet local and interurban needs, including co-ordinating with rail and other modes of transport.
We are a small team of 7 staff of the Authority augmented by a group of support consultants.
